What an absolute gut punch to read - that human beings can be so limitlessly vicious and at the same time others can see something limitlessly holy in each other. This needs to be read widely.

I have wondered for long what to do with all of it, the horror, the beauty all entangled into each other…

I don’t think I have an answer today more than before.

Sharing is the only thing I am left with…

Oh, Gabriel, this is so deeply human and heartbreaking. What gratitude he showed, despite his horrific wounds. And now, thanks to your beautifully honest way of describing your experience, I too will never think of a plastic spoon the same way. ❤️

I am still utterly confused by the horrors of our world. More often than not I am not really happy to be human. We are a weird species. Quite arrogant and complacent. So I wake up and do my best…

Thank you for telling this the way you did. There’s a quiet honesty here that stays with you — not the events themselves, but the attention you give to a single gesture, a single object, a single moment of dignity. The image of the spoon will stay.

And so will the care with which you looked and didn’t turn away.

I’m glad you shared this.

Thank you Guzel,

I am currently working at putting all the pieces of witnessing together in a memoir...

I use Susbtack to test the water about what people like, relate too etc...

Thank you

When I think of “what kind of world” I am overwhelmed.

When I think about the man in the mirror, I am convicted.

One person at a time.

Keep writing!!

You know the strange things is that I use to think there was a place out there where I did witness the horrors... today i witness them at my door. it is baffling to witness...

Those who never experienced war but on the screen have no idea of what's coming...
