Substack needs more options beyond "like." I cannot "like" this post, only stand in shame and awe at your courage to say out loud what no one wants to hear. Would that more of us could speak the truth and be heard.

Thank you dear one. I sat with it for a while before posting. I was not sure if posting was the right thing. Maybe some fear of backlash? Maybe fear to be misunderstood?

I also edited heavily from the first version which had more of my anger in it.

I know better than to blame. I know better than to show finger towards "what people do wrong". We are in a system that has been designed to deliver this horror and there are no way out of the system. We can break the system and make a new one, yet I doubt we will do that.

Can the system evolve? Only when we evolve. No if we don't... the famous Einstein quote: A problem has not solution from the level of consciousness that created it".

Thank you for seeing me. That is extremely valuable and supportive.

I can well imagine the hesitation before pressing the button to post. With such a challenging message, one can only hope it falls on ears that can hear, and minds that at least have the potential to open to that new level of consciousness.

Silence.

indeed, after a life trying to make a change I am at loss with the world. Even the extent of my spirituality fails to comprehend the immensity of the suffering we create...

All do not create the same amount of suffering but all with agency create a small amount, with every vote, purchase, and stream.

The causes are structural and systemic of course, with foundations that have been laid for millennia.

Only a cultural awakening will stop the madness.

Exactly...

the point of my share, as you know, is not to point fingers, or blame. The provocation is only here to wake us up. I am part of it too. Maybe if we wake up we can start finding solutions that are addressing the issue, not just lip service.

When I saw the footage of the war in Iraq on CNN, I knew everything had changed for Society. We were about to become desensitized to the ravages of war. That was when I actually stopped watching opinion news and started focusing on places like AP and routers when I wanted to get real information. I wasn’t a mother yet, but I told myself that when I had children, I was going to raise them the best of my ability to be conscious, critically thinking, empathic children. I think I’m done OK

So yes, you are smart in keeping your kids away from mainstream media.

I am lucky to have friends who are true journalist, and they still know where to get the real information…

The rest is propaganda. A beautiful screen erected to keep the people from truly see the true cost of privileges.

I was in Iraq in 1991 when the dynamics changed. War was filmed live, people could watch the missile hit in real time. It is where the concept of surgical strike appeared. It was an attempt to sanitize war…

The they pushed it a little too far in Somalia. When the US troops where landing ashore they TV crews were already here and they had prepared the lighting ( I am not joking).

Nevertheless, they got into total chaos ( watch Black Hawk Down for an idea)…

But since then war became a media campaign. Journalist are vetted by the military ( so much for the freedom of the press), image are selective to obtain public opinion support.

But war is never clean.

It is just truly horrible.
